You know what’s awesome? Coming home from work and having dinner already made. And do you know what’s even better? When someone else makes that dinner for you. Oh yes, and that’s exactly what happened for me yesterday. I left the house at 7 am with all the ingredients for chili nicely placed next to the crock-pot like so…

And when I returned from work they magically looked like this…

Ok, so maybe August making it wasn’t exactly magic, but it was still pretty awesome. He even used some of the deer meat that he butchered on our kitchen island to cook up this meal. And nothing beats a good bowl of chili on a cold night.

Ingredients
1 lb ground venison (or ground beef)
1 medium onion
1 can kidney beans (drained)
1 can black beans (drained)
1/2 can diced tomatoes
1/2 can Rotel
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Finely chop onion and cook in a small amount of olive oil until onions are soft and translucent.
2. Brown venison.
3. Place all of the ingredients including the cooked onions and venison into the crockpot.
4. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
5. Top with a little cheese and eat with a fork or slop it up with tortilla chips; whichever you prefer.

And on a completely different note, did everyone see this Deadspin story? Holy crap, even if you don’t know a lick about sports or have never even heard the name Manti Te’o I suggest you read the article. I’m not a Notre Dame fan by any means but I found myself rooting for them throughout the season just because of this kid’s story and it turns out it was a big hoax. Was he in on it for publicities sake, was he really as innocent and naive as Notre Dame is making it seem, is he friends with the guy who made up this Kekua character? So many questions and such a crazy story.

I am a crockpot fanatic!! I love throwing ingredients together and arriving at home to a wonderfully smelling condo
