Eating Gluten Free at Carino’s Italian Grill + A Giveaway

When you have to eat gluten free, there are a few foods that just don’t seem right if they don’t contain wheat; pasta and bread.  And when pasta and bread are no longer food options, Italian restaurants become a thing of the past.  So when Emily reached out to me to offer August and I a complimentary tasting of Carino’s Italian Grill’s brand spankin’ new gluten free menu I didn’t even have to contemplate before saying yes!

Carino’s recently partnered up with Udi’s so that they could start offering some of their favorite menu items gluten free.

August and I started off with a caesar salad (minus the croutons of course) and a big, heaping bowl of chili, sprinkled with a little cheese on top.

August preferred the chili and I preferred the salad.  Both were unlimited but we cut ourselves off after one bowl of each cause we didn’t want to fill up before the main event!

For our entrees we decided to split two.  First up, the seafood pasta which came with shrimp, calamari, and scallops combined with penne or spaghetti and tossed in a light tomato sauce.

And of course you can’t go to an Italian restaurant and not get a pizza so we shared one with bacon and pepperoni, August’s favorite.

Both entrees were good, but the seafood pasta was hands down my favorite.  You would never know that the pasta was gluten free and all of the seafood was delicious.  Even as a person who doesn’t like red sauce on pasta I really liked that dish and wouldn’t hesitate to order it again.  August even ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning. :)

Our one and only complaint, they didn’t have a gluten free alfredo sauce which would have been our preferred pasta sauce.  But I really can’t complain about that too much as we really enjoyed everything else and the tomato sauce ended up being really good.

**Now for the good part, Carino’s has offered to give one of you a $25 gift card to try out their menu!  Just enter below and the winner will be announced Friday.** Note that the gift card does not exclusively have to be used on gluten free menu items, but they’re worth a try!

Disclosure: I was provided a $50 gift card to try out Carino’s new menu but the opinions here are all my own.
