T-4 Days Until the Olympics

Is anyone else pumped up for the Olympics which start on Friday?!  I can’t believe they’re already here.  The Olympics to me, are that event you look forward to for weeks months and then when it’s over you suffer from post-event blues.  Am I the only one who’s that crazy for the Olympics?  Attending the Olympic Games is even on my bucket list.  Since the Olympics are so close I thought I’d share a few of the events that I’m most looking forward to and some bad ass athletes to watch for.

The Opening Ceremony

I know that no opening ceremony will ever compare to that in Beijing (because let’s be honest, that was pretty unreal) but I love watching the opening ceremony spectacle.  I always wonder what it must feel like to walk in representing your country.  Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

I can’t pick just one athlete or one event that I’m excited for when it comes to gymnastics.  I’m looking forward to the team competition, all-around, and individual events.  And the fact that 2 Americans should be vying for the all-around gold in Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber makes it all that much more awesome.

Missy Franklin

In case you missed the swimming trials, Missy Franklin is this years It girl, and she’s only 17!  She qualified in 7 events and could very well take gold in all of them.  She’s definitely one to watch this year and for years to come.

Ryan Lochte vs Michael Phelps

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m guessing you’ve heard about the Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps rivalry.  Phelps has been the rock star for the last 8 years but Lochte is ready to be a break-out star.  They’re only going head to head in 2 events but this has the makings to provide some serious fire power.  Personally, I’m on team Lochte. :)

David Boudia

A U.S. diver has not won an Olympic medal since the 2000 Sydney games.  This year, our best hope is platform diver, David Boudia, who won the silver medal at the 2011 worlds.

What athletes are you most looking forward to watch at this years Olympics?  What’s your favorite event?  Have you ever been to the Olympic Games?
