My current job is the first where I’ve had a legitimate office with a door and place to display some personal belongings. Before this job, I was used to a small desk crammed together with the rest of the students that had room for only my computer. So, when I started this new job last year I wanted to personalize my office space a bit.
It’s certainly nothing fancy but it works for me. As I was sitting in my office today I was thinking about the things in there that mean the most to me. By that picture I bet you can’t guess what I value the most.
That’s right my two favorite things in my office are a short fat man and a paper weight.
Before you think I’m totally nuts, let me explain. That paper weight is what I received upon completion of my PhD from the University of Kentucky. 4 1/2 years of labor and that’s all I have to show for it (well, that and a diploma, but it’s still in the cardboard envelope they sent it to me in, ha). So you better believe that paper weight will be proudly displayed in every office I ever have. As for the short, fat guy, he’s a stress ball. I studied obesity in graduate school and my lab mate got that for me at the first research conference I ever attended. Given the high stress that comes with being a graduate student and the nature of my research it seemed highly appropriate!
When I got home from work my car let me know it was a little too hot outside for a run.
So I opted to reacquaint myself with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.
It has been a good year and a half since I’ve popped that DVD into the player and I already know my shoulders and abs are going to be hurting big time tomorrow. I really need to incorporate more strength training into my workouts. And the best part about working out at home, I could wear my white shorts without being paranoid that they were see through and people could see my bright colored underwear! (TMI? Sorry.)
Like a lot of people one of our favorite meals is breakfast for dinner! Of course having pancakes, waffles, or biscuits becomes much trickier when you can’t consume gluten. Enter in Bisquick gluten free pancake and baking mix.
We’ve used this a couple times before to make pancakes but tonight August was hankering for some biscuits, so he set to work whipping some up.
We had scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, bacon, and biscuits. I’m not going to lie, we were both a little disappointed with the biscuits. I know they were made with the same mix that we used to make pancakes but for some reason I was expecting a slightly different flavor. Instead it just felt like I was eating a pancake in biscuit shape.
Needless to say we have a lot of biscuits leftover! Hey, at least now August has something to take to work for a snack.
Do you have anything weird displayed in your office? Ever made a new food and had it taste exactly like something else?
